Onboarding surveys lose people because the questions serve us, not them. We reordered the flow so every answer visibly changes a live preview of their knowledge base, which keeps completion rates up and front-loads the aha moment into signup instead of deferring it to first use.

Before
To move quickly, I designed an MVP with an attractive card-stacking animation that showcases knowledge bases from real KnowledgeOwl clients. This still keeps the motivation to continue because each answer results in another preview, as well as builds excitement by showing what’s possible within the tool.
What’s shown on the right changes depending on the user’s answer, giving them a representative preview of the custom knowledge base we’re building based on their answers. The layout depends on which type of knowledge base they use, and we scrape their website for their logo and brand colors for an added layer of personalization.
